KHQ on Permanent Hiatus

June 11, 2019 Uncategorized 320 Views

Dear Readers, Contributors, and Publishers,

I apologize for the delayed updates about Kudzu House Quarterly‘s status. As of right now, the journal is on an indefinite hiatus from reading and publishing. We are proud of the success the Kudzu project found, and we are honored to have spent 7 years promoting some of the best environmental writing anywhere. When we founded KHQ, there weren’t as many journals which were embracing the intersections of digital publishing and environmental activism, and we are proud to have participated in the growth of such a broad network of born-digital journals devoted to environmental writing.

Kudzu House Quarterly became increasingly popular at at time when our masthead were all independently moving into different fields. We are proud to say that our volunteer readers and editors have taken the skills they used at Kudzu House to work in a variety of places, such as higher ed, technology, environmental activism, and publishing. These changes, coupled with the increasing demands of a growing journal, proved to be more than our volunteer staff could sustain. In many ways, the journal grew like kudzu, but unlike the invasive plant, we are very proud of the impact the journal had on environmental writing.

While we are not taking new submissions, there is a possibility that KHQ will be revived in the future. Check back with us Fall 2020 for updates, or subscribe to our newsletter via https://bit.ly/2Xzsof6, and we will send updates when things change. Likewise, do not worry about the future of the website. We are planning to keep the archive online for the foreseeable future, and we have future plans to permanently archive the page through a university repository if we can no longer support the website.

In the interim, any future emailed or mailed submissions will be discarded unread. If you are having trouble with the store or website, please contact our web host, Robin Ward via email (support [at] SteelCitySites [dot] net). If you have other questions, please contact the Editor-in-Chief Madison Jones via email (madisonpjonesiv [at] gmail [dot] com).

Regards,

Madison Jones
